Government Approved Kindergarten Program

Picture
We ready children for school with a Kindergarten Program tapered to stimulate children’s learning and development in a nurturing environment.

We deliver an approved Kindergarten Program focusing on play-based early learning.  Our high quality educational program is guided by the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and is delivered by qualified early childhood teachers.

Our Kindergarten Classroom is spacious and well resourced. Your child is encouraged to investigate and explore their surroundings, role play, solve problems and interact with friends. These play experiences help develop the social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills they need for life.

What will my child learn?

The Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline consists of 5 Learning and Development areas. Your child will build his or her:
  • sense of identity, e.g. learn about themselves, feel secure with others, and build confidence, independence and perseverance
  • sense of connectedness, e.g. learn ways to relate to others, be responsible, and respect diverse people and the environment
  • wellbeing, e.g. learn to understand feelings, manage challenges, stay healthy and safe, and develop movement skills
  • active learning, e.g. develop a desire to learn, ways to learn, and ways to get organised for and be involved in learning
  • ability to communicate, e.g. develop listening skills, language skills, and confidence and interest in early literacy and numeracy skills.

Literacy and numeracy

Play based learning

Literacy and Numeracy are integrated into our Kindergarten curriculum through play, stories, songs, rhymes, games and general discussion at group time.

Teachers also observe and scaffold children’s emerging literacy and numeracy learning during daily play experiences.

Your child participates in a diverse range of real-life learning experiences including art and craft, cooking, gardening, music, dressing up and actively participating in daily routines.

Technology

Picture
Your child is introduced to technology with access to IPads and laptops.

We use these for a variety of educational games and Apps, taking photos and for research.

Transitioning to Prep

At the end of the year you will receive a transition statement. This summarises your child’s learning during the Kindergarten year and is a great resource for your child's new Prep teacher to use to get to know you child and their learning achievements and needs.
